Giovanni Labadessa - Founder / Executive

Giovanni Labadessa is an award-winning Italian writer-producer and member of the European Film Academy based in Los Angeles, specializing in international independent cinema. Starting his career as a screenwriter, he transitioned into production with Lee Farber debut feature "The Lonely Italian" (2016), which was distributed through Hulu and Amazon Prime.
As the founder of Lumiere Lab, he has built a track record of critically acclaimed international co-productions. Notable successes include the Ecuadorian fantasy drama "Fishgirl," which earned the Critics' Pick Special Mention at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, and the Latvian rotoscope animation "Dog of God," an official selection at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival. His latest venture, the Brazilian dramedy "Isabel," is produced in partnership with the Oscar-winning producers of "I'm Still Here" (2025).
Throughout his career, Giovanni has overseen the development and production of eleven features and multiple shorts, establishing himself as a bridge between European and American independent cinema. His work consistently champions distinctive auteur voices not only in his work as a producer but also as the founder of Not Film Fest, which has successfully run for seven editions, furthering his commitment to nurturing independent cinema.
